Ricky Campbell
From C-Class Caddie to Hall-of-Fame International Golf Teacher – Now I’m Paying It Forward
Growing up as a young boy in Bethel, hanging out on the Mt. Irvine golf course was a daily pastime and a way to earn a few dollars. As a caddie, I was able to see the game played up close and personal. A few swings of the golf club and I was hooked.
My family couldn’t afford the expense of paying for me to learn golf so I would sneak on to the golf course late in the evenings with a few clubs I borrowed from the golfers I caddied for, and I would hit balls well into the night.
Knowing how difficult it was to get into golf as a young boy of modest means , for many years now it has been my dream to establish The Ricky Campbell Golf Academy as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing golf lessons and life lessons to the youth of Tobago and Trinidad.
The Pride of Tobago Foundation has been our biggest cheerleader and supporter, providing business guidance and event management services to raise funds for our Academy.
Let’s all pitch in to inspire our kids to work hard, have fun, and dream big!
